Since the trip to and from the tulip fields went so well (Rhayna slept almost the entire way!) we decided to head to the ocean to enjoy our family before daddy has to go back to work (May 4th - Booooo!). We rented a BEAUTIFUL ocean view room in Ocean Shores, WA and lounged around for the afternoon and following day. We were going to head back home but since everything was going so well and we had plenty of diapers left (hahahaha) we decided to head to Oregon for a night! We stayed in Astoria, a quaint little town on the Columbia River and then ventured to Cannon Beach which is one of the most BEAUTIFUL sea side towns I've ever been in. Oh if the weather didn't suck so much of the year, THAT'S where I'd want to live. It's everything you could imagine a small, remote sea side village being....nothing corporate, tiny diners, little convienence stores, little gift shops and even a small downtown area. It's what I imagine small North East villages to look like. It was so beautiful!
On our way home, Rhayna had TERRIBLE gas pains and we ended up stopping every 30 miles or so to soothe her. She doesn't like her car seat anyway but then her tummy was feeling so bad, it was tortureous :( The screams were unbareable! She ended up having FOUR - yes 4 huge poops in the span of 15 minutes while we sat in a gas station parking lot in the middle of the night and that seemed to cure part of her ill. We were leary but ventured back onto the road and both she and mommy passed out while daddy drove, very tired, home. I had permanent pressure marks on my face from falling asleep with my face smashed on the side of the car seat as the only way she would stop crying is if I had my arm sort of wrapped around her as if I was holding her in her seat. It was QUITE the adventure and VERY different than our drive TO our mini-getaway!
All in all, we had a great time enjoying our family and spending some relaxing away time before daddy has to go back to work.
